Low ESR Chip Tantalum Capacitors for High-Density SMT Power Circuits
Low ESR chip tantalum capacitors are used in surface mount power circuits where stable capacitance,
controlled leakage current, and compact package size are required.
They are commonly applied in decoupling and filtering networks for digital and communication equipment.
The TS20L series provides multiple case sizes to support different capacitance and layout requirements.
Mechanical Configuration
Six standard case sizes, including S, A, B, C, D, and E, enable flexible PCB placement in high-density SMT assemblies.
Laser-marked cases support component identification during automated manufacturing and inspection.
- Case sizes: S, A, B, C, D, E
- Surface mount structure for automated assembly
- Laser-marked case identification
Electrical Characteristics
Low ESR structure improves ripple current handling and reduces voltage drop in power distribution networks.
Capacitance tolerance options include ±20% as standard and ±10% for special orders.
Leakage current is specified at 25°C with a limit defined by capacitance and rated voltage conditions.
- Low ESR for power rail stability
- Capacitance tolerance: ±20%, ±10% (special order)
- Specified DC leakage at 25°C
- Temperature range: -55°C to +125°C
- Voltage derating required above 80°C
Applications
- Telecommunication equipment
- Computer mainboards
- Camcorders
- Mobile communication devices
- General SMT power filtering
Design Considerations
- Apply voltage derating for operation above 80°C
- Select case size based on capacitance and ripple requirements
- Verify ESR values for switching frequency performance
- Ensure leakage current is acceptable for low-power circuits
